The Regional Auditorium Víctor Villegas in Murcia will be hosting on May 16 the screening of the silent film 'Häxan', a Swedish-Danish horror co-production shot in 1922, which will be screened as part of the IV European Fantasy Film Festival of Murcia (C-FEM), achieved with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities.
The screening of the film will be held at Sala Narciso Yepes in the Auditorium accompanied by a sound track, exclusively created for this event by musician Raúl Frutos and performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, directed by César Álvarez. In addition, poet Vicente Cervera will join this initiative as a narrator.
Directed by Benjamin Christensen, the film brings together a mix of documentary and dramatic fiction in order to talk about witchcraft from the Middle Ages onwards. A story that deals with the world of the occult, black magic and witchcraft over the centuries. The script is based on part of a 15th-century German manual for inquisitors.
Frutos has already set to music ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, in 2012, and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ in 2013, some of the special screenings organised by C-FEM every year. Apart from these films, ‘Nosferatu’ (score by Luis Albaladejo) and ‘Metropolis’ (with the collaboration this last time of Alfonso Alfonso) has also been screened in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
Tickets for ‘Häxan’ at the Regional Auditorium on Saturday, 16 May (8.30 pm), are now on sale for 7 euros (presale) or 10 euros at the Auditorium’s box office (open from Monday to Friday: 9.00 am – 2 pm, at the box office of Filmoteca Regional two hours prior to the film sessions as well as through ticketmaster).
