Ministry of Culture delivered CENDEAC's book collection to the School of Design of Murcia

The Region of Murcia celebrates International Book Day with numerous activities at their centers, coming to an end with the premiere of the air theater show 'Quixote'

 

Noelia Arroyo, the Minister of Culture and the regional government spokeswoman, handed a collection of 120 books published by the Cendeac and a selection of exhibition catalogs of La Conservera and Sala Verónicas to the director of the School of Design of Murcia, Lucio Moreno.

This activity is part of the International Book Day celebrated in various centers and run by the Regional Ministry of Culture. This initiative aims to bring books and reading to all audiences, besides commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare with various activities held throughout this year.

Noelia Arroyo pointed out that "the Ministry has organized a program where the author of 'Don Quixote' will be very present, but it also includes the promotion of books related to contemporary art and other  disciplines such as cinema and the performing arts . We invite all Murcians to live through books, to enjoy reading as a learning and leisure experience "

In centers such as the Regional Library,  the Ministry of Culture has organized exhibitions, lectures, children's workshops, theater performances or free books distribution on through mobile libraries. The library also has the "Picoesquina cervantino" where all the material related to Cervantes is located. In addition, in the Regional Library, as well as in others, QR codes will be placed so that users will be able to download the edition of 'Don Quixote' commented by Diego Clemencín.

"We want the activities around literature to become one of the cornerstones of cultural policy in the coming months. Reading is the most widespread cultural activity, which seduces all audiences. This year is special:  we not only recall Cervantes and Shakespeare, but also work to continue to support the authors of the Region ", said the minister.

Great Closure

The various activities conclude today in La Conservera, in Ceutí, with the reading of 'Don Quixote', which starts at 5 p.m. and is followed by the premiere of the show 'Quixote' by the company 'Grupo Puja!' will take place at 9 p.m. as a great end of the day.

'Grupo Puja!' is a resident company at La Conservera, the space where they have created this aerial theater show based on the inner journey of Don Quixote and his faithful squire. Entry for  show will be free.
