Centro Párraga reviews the emerging Nicaraguan art with an unprecedented collective exhibition in Spain

Centro Párraga in Murcia will host from Thursday 30th April onward the exhibition ‘Review of Contemporary Art in Nicaragua’, organised by the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities and T20 Proyectos, with the collaboration of the artist Patricia Belli and her organisation EspIRA.

It is the first collective exhibition in Spain on  different means of expression in Nicaraguan art over the last few years and makes a review of the active contemporary art of this Latin American country, which is being increasingly displayed beyond their borders.

‘Review of Contemporary Art in Nicaragua’, curated by T20 Proyectos, comprises about twenty pieces of various disciplines by six artists, like video productions, collages, paintings, installations, sculptures and photographs, can be seen until next 12th June.

Artists Alejandro de la Guerra, Fredman Barahona, Darling López and Patricia Belli, who participate in the exhibition, have previously visited the Spanish art scene through residency programs, art fairs or individual exhibitions. Ricardo Huerzo, founding member of EspIRA, and Oscar Rivas will exhibit their work in Spain for the first time.

The Area for Research and Artistic Thought, EspIRA, to which five artists of the exhibition belong, is a non-profit association based in Nicaragua that works actively since 2001 and is focused on artist-training, constitutes with awareness that art is a highly enriching factor in the human experience.

The exhibition ‘Review of Contemporary Art in Nicaragua’ will remain open until next 12th June and could be visited from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
